Touring around SL is hours of fun, but sooner or later you'll probably want to find some fun events to attend in-world. So how exactly do you go about that?

Well, here are two easy methods:

One of the more rewarding things about SL is how fun it is to give things to other avatars. You can make gifts of clothing, landmarks, buildings, furniture, cars, boats, planes, and more.

As you travel around SL, you'll sooner or later encounter the concept of "Landmarks" (or, as they're sometimed called, "LM's"). Maybe you're in a sim and see a statue with the words "Touch Here For Landmark" floating above it. Or maybe another avatar will give you a landmark -- or several.

So what the heck are landmarks, and why do they matter in SL?

The clue is this: walking up to avatars and asking, "Hey! Hi. How can I get a job?" marks you as a real newbie - a clueless newbie to boot, actually. Which is okay, we were all newbies once, and no one is going to hate you for asking.

Got a friend that hasn't even heard of SL? Or, maybe your parents just overheard you talking about SL? You know, Second Life can be hard to describe to people. Play this video for them and then let them as you questions.

When you first land in Second Life, you'll be on the mainland. Most of the searches you do, which are sorted as highest-traffic listed first, will show you mainland places first. So it is only natural that newbies end up cruising around the mainland.
