Lots of corporations are scrambling to make a presence in SL, with varying degreees of success. One corporate build I like is the American Apparel store, which is situated on a beach in Lerappa.

If you've done any shopping in SL, you know that clothing stores usually look very different than this. In SL, you're typically looking at walls covered with pictures of avatars wearing the clothes, and you buy from these. American Apparel went to the trouble to create racks and racks of SL garments.

The clothes are a bit more expensive than you'll find elsewhere, but the cool hidden secret is: when you buy any garment, you're getting it in a whole bunch of colors. I got a hoodie, and now I have hoodies to go with everything.

American Apparel has done a nice job of integrating real-world and SL, too. Everything sold in the SL store is also sold in real life. In fact, the signs in the SL store show the same garments on a real person and on an avatar.

. . . And then, last time I visited, they were running a "Be Your Own Twin" promotion. If you buy the same garment in real life that your avatar owns in SL, you'll get 15% off (in real life, I mean).

All this, and they give away free tacos and beer in-store.
