Setting up a Second Life Development Environment

FOR PROGRAMMERS & DEVELOPERS

So Linden Labs has released the Second Life client software to Open Source. A great move, in my opinion, and one that will accelerate the development of the client to everyone's benefit. The Second Life client truely has the capacity to become the world's first standard "3D-Metaverse Browser", so to speak.

However, if you have downloaded the source and tried to build it, you've no doubt been overwhemed no matter what your level of experience. It's big. It's complex. And it doesn't build.

I found this article that explains some of the specifics and gives some tips and techniques for putting together your development environment for Second Life client development work.
