Sky News, a UK news TV network, has built a large TV studio and station in Second Life. With a studio set for news anchors complete with TV camera and boom mics on trollies, offices and desks, waiting room and meeting rooms, production and director's tech rooms and more. And, some easter eggs as well - a clue from the Sky News website: "At some of the desks you can play short videos about the jobs of the people who work there."
The station is a detailed replica of the real station, built in-world from the blueprints of the real building. It is an excellent way to see how a real TV news station is laid out. Read more here:

The station has done live simul-casts with live guests on the show and specially-built avatars of each guest in the Second Life studios with video feeds from both. A pretty cool mash-up (mesh-up w/grid implications?) idea.

This might be a neat place to meet a group of friends for touring or talking about movie or TV-style projects you want to do in SL. Despite the extensive and professional build, the place seems available and open most of the time. Dont' be shy, they say on their web site:
"And we want Second Lifers to make their own movies inside the virtual world, which they can upload to www.skycast.com."
Role play news nite, anyone?
